2011 IPL

Enhanced in-house tuning concepts were applied to the 2011 G Coupe making it the first production vehicle with the IPL treatment. The all-new 2011 IPLâ„¢ G Coupe was provided with an increased engine power and acceleration output, enhanced handling, ride comfort, performance and some aggressive new styling.

Increased Performance

Under the IPL-branded engine cover is a performance V6 that is tuned to produce 348-hp from the 3.7-liter with 276 lb-ft of torque. This output is matched with a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission or seven-speed automatic transmission that sends power to a rear limited-slip differential.

Combining this powertrain with an IPL-tuned suspension and an IPL-tuned high-flow dual exhaust with independent left and right large diameter pipes added to the G Coupe’s dynamic upgrades. The muffler’s inner structure and materials have been maximized to open up the exhaust and deliver a throatier sound at idle. This gave IPL’s design engineers the freedom to loosen the restriction and reduce pressure.

Changing the fuel delivery and spark delivery schedules required a reflash of the engine’s ECU, recalibrating the airfuel mixture and ignition timing, which netted power delivery from a freer revving low-mid-range to a horsepower peak of 7400 rpm at the upper end.

The 2011 IPLâ„¢ G Coupe is built on the second generation G coupe rear-wheel drive model.

For better road handling, the Infiniti IPLâ„¢ was fitted with a performance suspension with independent front double-wishbone and independent rear multi-link with front and rear stabilizer bars. The suspension gets recalibrated damper tuning to make the best of the 20-percent stiffer IPL front springs and the 10-percent stiffer rear coils without transmitting harsh vibrations

“When we were working on the suspension, we went through 70 different combinations before we chose this one,” said IPL™ Division’s Nate Mason. The slightly stiffer ride delivers on its promise of incrementally better response than on the base G37.

The IPLâ„¢ G Coupe is dressed up with 19-inch IPL split seven-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels with dark gray graphite finish.

It’s also equipped with aluminum 4-piston opposed front calipers, and 13.8-inch vented rear discs with two-piston opposed rear calipers which are carry over from the G37S.

The IPLâ„¢ G Coupe gets a 14.7:1 sport-tuned steering wheel system. The IPL vehicle also gets a mechanical-type Viscous Limited-Slip Differential (VLSD).

The IPLâ„¢ G Coupe incorporates newly designed aerodynamics with new front and rear fascias, integrated fog lights and black finishers. Other refinements include sculpted side sills and rear spoiler.

Inside you’ll find styling treatments like red-stitched leather-appointed front sport seats and steering wheel, and aluminum trim pedals and footrest.

Standard Features

The IPL™ G Coupe features Infiniti Studio on Wheels® by Bose® premium 11-speaker audio system.

The 9.3GB Music Box® Hard Drive and Infiniti Hard Drive Navigation System with enhanced touch-screen, RearView Monitor, Rear Sonar, and power sliding tinted-glass moon roof with one touch open/close, tilt and sunshade are all standard.
