2013 Infiniti JX Luxury Crossover Production Begins

The first luxury vehicle produced in the state of Tennessee, an Infiniti JX luxury crossover in Emerald Green, rolled off the production line during a special ceremony today at Nissan's Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. The all-new, 7-passenger 2013 Infiniti JX, the latest addition to the Infiniti Inspired Performance lineup, goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in March.

Attending the celebration alongside Smyrna technicians who will build the new JX were Nissan Americas Vice Chairman Bill Krueger, Vice President Manufacturing Smyrna - Decherd Susan Brennan, Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore and U.S. Representative Scott DesJarlais of the 4th Congressional District of Tennessee.

"We are extremely proud and honored to be building this world-class vehicle right here in Middle Tennessee," said Brennan. "We expect the inspired design and quality craftsmanship built into every new Infiniti model that rolls off the Smyrna production lines will deliver inspired performance that is second to none."

Along with the assembly of the new Infiniti JX, the 265-horspower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engines are assembled in nearby Decherd, Tennessee. The 2013 JX delivers best-in-class fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg and 20 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive and intuitive all-wheel drive models respectively.

The new Infiniti JX starts at a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $40,450 USD for the JX35 FWD and $41,550 USD for the JX35 AWD model. Reservations are being taken now at InfinitiUSA.com/all-new-JX.

"The luxury crossover market is the fastest growing luxury segment in America, representing a huge opportunity for Infiniti," said Poore. "In fact, we expect JX to quickly become our second highest volume model, right behind the popular Infiniti G-line."

The new JX also features the world's first Backup Collision Intervention system - another first-to-market technology from Infiniti. Backup Collision Intervention uses sensors in the rear of the JX to detect potential obstacles when backing out of a parking space. If an obstacle is detected, the system gives visual and audible warnings. And, in case the driver doesn't respond in time, BCI can step in and automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a potential impact.

In addition to the JX's standout styling and craftsmanship, the breakthrough JX design offers excellent legroom in all three rows and ample cargo room behind the 3rd row. In addition, an innovative multi-mode middle seat design provides entry to the 3rd row without removing a 2nd row child seat.

Among the many other advanced standard and available technologies found throughout the new JX is Infiniti Connection, a new feature that can automatically synch the owner's schedule through Google Calendar and then provides navigation guidance to appointments - along with multiple other functions. The Infiniti Connection system also includes Infiniti Personal Assistant, which offers owners 24-hour personal concierge services from inside or outside of their Infiniti vehicle.

INFINITI REPORTS JANUARY 2012 SALES

- Sales of Infiniti Crossovers and Sport Utility Vehicles Remain Strong; Infiniti QX up 30 Percent -

Infiniti today reported January sales of 6,796 units, a decrease of 8.2 percent versus 7,405 units a year earlier.

With a 3.4 percent gain for the month, sales of Infiniti luxury crossovers and sport utility vehicles remained strong, led by the Infiniti QX full-size SUV with a 30.4 percent increase to 1,020 units.

"After a strong close in December, traffic at Infiniti retailers picked up considerably in the last half of January as we began our sponsorship of NCAA Men's Basketball," said Ben Poore, vice president, Infiniti Business Unit. "Strong sales of the Infiniti FX performance crossover and the QX full-size SUV have our retailers highly anticipating the new Infiniti JX that goes on sale in the Spring."

The Infiniti JX, the brand's first 3-row, 7-passenger luxury crossover, is expected to offer class-leading interior volume and best-in-class all-wheel-drive fuel economy. It will also feature the world's first Blind Spot Intervention system, which detects crossing vehicles behind the JX and, if necessary, can automatically engage the brakes to help avoid a collision.

As corporate sponsor of NCAA Men's Basketball, Infiniti began its second annual Coaches' Charity Challenge in January. Through this program, $5,000 will be donated to each of the 48 participating coaches' designated charities. The coach with the most fan votes in the final round will receive $100,000 for his designated charity. Infiniti is promoting its G and M lines during regular season NCAA Men's Basketball, continuing with the launch of the Infiniti JX luxury crossover during the Final Four.
