Infiniti Registers Highest Emotional Attachment Among Car Brands!

Do you love your car? Like, really love your car? How about your iPhone? According to Forbes, a group called New Media Metrics has a way to quantify just how much you adore your devices, and how that emotional connection determines your purchasing behavior.

The metric is called Leveraging Emotional Attachment for Profit, or LEAP, and just like it sounds, it measures how much we love products. That affection will likely lead to purchase to fill that attachment. The LEAP index began in 2010, and for the first two year the iPod topped the list, only to be unseated by the iPhone this year. Tech is a key factor as these devices have become extensions of ourselves.

The top automaker on this list, and ranked third overall, is the Infiniti brand. Its high ranking speaks to the significance of technology in the LEAP index. While many automakers offer a wealth of in-car tech, for Infiniti, it's a defining characteristic. Features like the around-view monitor and real-time traffic and weather updates have become key selling points for the Japanese luxury brand.

Singapore Grand Prix: Seb Sparkles at the Night Race

Car 1 SEBASTIAN VETTEL, Finish Position: WINNER! Start Position: 3rd
"It's great to get the win today. I'd like to dedicate it to Professor Sid Watkins. It's thanks to all the work he did to bring safety advancements to the sport that we can race on circuits like this. Looking to the race, Lewis had to retire which is a shame for him. I know how it feels and have been in that position before. I think we could have had a tight battle. I felt very good on the harder tires and we had a lot of pace. I think it's very good to get this win here today. We know the next few races will be tough, but that's the challenge."

Car 2 MARK WEBBER, Finish Position: 11th, Start Position: 7th
(Mark finished 10th, but a drive-through penalty was given after the race for leaving the track and gaining an advantage)
"I wasn't too bad pace wise. The strategy was going all right, but the second safety car really hurt us and put us to the back of the queue. Around here, fighting and looking after your tires is a bit of a mess. It's a shame. Sebastian got some good points for the Team, so that's good and I'm just looking forward now to the next few races. I like Suzuka, so I'm looking forward to that."

CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal
"A tremendous result for Sebastian and the Team to win in Singapore. It's a timely win for both Championships. It was unfortunate for Lewis to retire from the lead, we know how that feels and it's never a good feeling. Nonetheless Sebastian's had tremendous pace all weekend and it's a shame in some respects, as I'm sure they'd have had a great race over the remainder of the grand prix. With Mark, we elected to go onto a three-stop strategy and it was working reasonably well; there was the first safety car and, having just made a stop we knew we couldn't get to the end on those tires, so we made a gamble and stayed out. Then his strategy was destroyed with the second safety car, caused by the Schumacher and Vergne incident. We had to pit him from there to get him to the end of the race, which dropped him back. His recovery from there was strong."

CYRIL DUMONT, Renault
"It was a good way to recover after the last race result. We had the pace we expected today and it was good to convert the momentum that we had shown in the practice sessions. For Mark, it was a difficult race. Being in traffic is never easy here, but he did some good overtaking. For Sebastian – to win here you have to do the perfect race and Seb did it. Now we have to keep the momentum for the final six races."

2013 Infiniti M Sedan Receives 5-Star Overall NCAP Rating

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Infiniti today announced that the 2013 Infiniti M luxury sedan has been awarded a 5-Star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) under the agency's New Car Assessment Program (NCAP). The 5-Star Safety Ratings System is designed to provide consumers with information about the crash protection and rollover safety of new vehicles. Five stars is the highest possible rating. NHTSA is the only organization that rates rollover resistance.

"Infiniti's Inspired Performance encompasses the total design of our vehicles, including our goal to provide a secure, confidence-inspiring environment for driver and passengers. The NHTSA 5-Star NCAP rating is an important third-party validation of these efforts," said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. "We're also proud of Infiniti's ongoing industry leadership in advanced safety technologies such as Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Prevention, Forward Collision Warning and the new Backup Collision Intervention that was just introduced on the all-new Infiniti JX luxury crossover."

All 2013 Infiniti M models come equipped with standard Infiniti Advanced Air Bag System (AABS) with dual-stage supplemental front air bags with seat belt sensors and occupant classification sensor, standard front seat-mounted side impact supplemental air bags, and standard roof-mounted curtain side impact supplemental air bags for front and rear-seat outboard occupant head protection.

The Infiniti M also includes standard 3-point seat belts with Automatic Locking Retractor and Emergency Locking Retractor (driver's seat only), front seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters, front seat Active Head Restraints with 4-way manual adjustments, along with Zone Body construction with front and rear crumple zones and LATCH System (Lower Anchors and Tether for Children).

2013 Infiniti M Safety and Security Features
The 2013 Infiniti M is available with a number of innovative technologies, including Infiniti's Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP) systems. The LDW and LDP systems use a small camera installed behind the windshield to detect lane markers in front of the vehicle, calculate its position relative to those lane markers and warn the driver of a potential unintended lane departure with a visual display and audible buzzer. If the driver does not return the vehicle back toward the center of the travel lane, the LDP system assists the driver with a gentle application of the brakes.

Also offered are Blind Spot Warning (BSW) and Blind Spot Intervention® (BSI) systems, which are available as part of the Technology Package. BSW illuminates an indicator light if another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area. If the driver then uses the turn signal, the indicator flashes and an audible warning sounds. BSI is another world-first safety feature from Infiniti and takes blind spot technology to the next level. If the vehicle gets close to the lane marker and another vehicle is detected in the blind spot area, the indicator flashes, an audible warning sounds, and selective braking is applied to one side of the vehicle to help the driver bring the vehicle back to the center of the driving lane. BSI operates regardless of turn signal usage.  Other available safety features include Intelligent Brake Assist with Forward Collision Warning and Front Pre-Crash Seat Belts.

Infiniti also developed Snug Kids, an industry-first program geared specifically toward safety for children in child restraints. Infiniti safety engineers spent thousands of hours evaluating hundreds of child restraints by installing them in all the rear seats of current Infiniti vehicles.  The result is the Snug Kids Child Safety Seat Fit Guide, which helps parents confidently select a child restraint that fits their vehicle while also providing valuable tips on the proper fit of a child restraint. The Snug Kids Child Safety Seat Fit Guides for all Infiniti vehicles are available at InfinitiUSA.com.

The 2013 Infiniti M lineup includes the Infiniti M56 and M37 luxury sedans and Infiniti M Hybrid. Every 2013 Infiniti vehicle also comes with Infiniti Personal Assistant, a unique personal concierge service providing owners with 24-hour access to live assistants no matter where they are.

The New England Motor Press Association selected the 2012 Infiniti QX56 as the best-in-class premium SUV. It was the second year in a row the group chose QX for the award.

SPA SPECTACULAR: Red Bull Racing extends lead in Constructors’

Car 1 SEBASTIAN VETTEL, Finish Position: 2nd, Start Position: 10th
"I'm happy with that today. Qualifying wasn't as we planned it to be yesterday, but today the car seemed to be back to as we know it. The start was poor; I think I was the only one not to gain positions through the first corners, so we had to fight our way back, which wasn't easy, but I enjoyed it a lot. The strategy worked perfectly for us and we had the pace, which was the best thing about today. The car worked well and we didn't struggle. Congratulations to Jenson and Mclaren on the win. We've got a lot of back to backs this season and I'm looking forward to Monza later this week. We had a great race there last year - it's always a great atmosphere and we'll be pushing hard."

Car 2 MARK WEBBER, Finish Position: 6th, Start Position: 12th
"The start was pretty wild, which can happen at La Source. We settled into a race, but it became obvious quite early on that it was difficult for us to overtake. Obviously Seb and I had a little battle, which was fine – but after that, it just wasn't possible to fight other people on the straight line, so that made it tough. We tried to under-cut some people and roll the dice... I had Petrov on the out lap, which is fair play to him as he's just doing his thing, but we lost time there. We had a bit of luck at the start, but after that we didn't get the most out of the situation – but it was good to finish six places higher than I started and get points."

CHRISTIAN HORNER, Team Principal:
"A great recovery - we had strong race pace. We didn't plan a one stop, but we managed to make it work well with Sebastian once we got around the half way mark. His overtaking was excellent and our guys even went wheel to wheel on occasion, which was good and fair. To go from tenth to second was a great recovery. With Mark, we were hoping for more but I think our selection of top gear was probably a bit short today and it penalised him a bit when he was overtaking at the top of the hill. But, nonetheless he's scored good points; I think in clear air he would have been very quick, but he was in traffic for most of the race. So overall, after a disappointing Saturday it was a positive Sunday."

CYRIL DUMONT, Renault:
"A great recovery - if someone had offered me this result yesterday, I would have signed for it immediately. The start was not so good, but the strategy worked well and the pace of the car was strong. I think the most important thing is that we scored some important points in both Championships. We extend the lead in the Constructors' and both drivers got closer to Alonso in the Drivers."
